Featured Project
Type AL Building
Below are before and after photos of a project Abuck built for Georgia Power Co. located at Plant McDonough in the Atlanta GA. area. It is the coal handling building where they operate the dumping switches for the coal trains. The photos are of an existing Armco building we built approximately 20+ years ago. The gutters were rusted through, the building was drafty and allowing coal dust to enter. Our contract was to demo the existing building, build a new gabled building in it's place for better removal of the coal build up on the roof, and add an HVAC system that would maintain positive pressure inside the building to prevent coal dust from entering. The HVAC system required an additional building to house it. We added sealant at all of the panel side-laps to prevent the entry of coal dust. We installed an FRP liner system, electrical, and an epoxy floor system. They are very pleased with the finished product. The new color scheme of the plant is tan.
